Records smashed at a hugely impressive Cheltenham Festival Sale

A hugely impressive 13 horses surpassed £100,000 at the Cheltenham Festival Sale tonight staged in the winner's enclosure at the highest profile National Hunt race meeting in the World, the Cheltenham Festival. Statistics rose considerably throughout the whole sale. The aggregate increased by 107% to £3,000,000, the median of £120,000 increased by 32% and the average of £142,857 increased by 38%.

 

The highlight of the evening came from the five-year-old mare MAIRE BANRIGH(Lot 25). By the deceased sire, King's Theatre and consigned by Ballinapark Stables, the five-length debut Maiden winner broke records when becoming the most expensive point-to-pointer of her sex and she was knocked down to John Hales for £320,000.

 

A couple of lot earlier, Ballyboy Stables who have enjoyed plenty of success at this sales venue, again hit the top figures. Lot 18, PALMERS HILL impressed many when winning his four-year-old Maiden at Tyrella. The son of Gold Well was sold to Kieran McManus for £310,000.  

 

There was joint top honours for the third top lot. SLATE HOUSE (Lot 16) was the ten-length winner at Tattersalls Farm and lived up to his track reputation when sold by Loughanmore Farm to Tom Malone for £260,000.

 

Monbeg Stables is usually represented by brothers Donnchadh and Sean Doyle but today was Cormac's Doyle's day. Consigning Lot 26, THE DELLERCHECKOUT won his four-year-old Maiden at Lismore and the son of Getaway was sold to John Hales and Ryan Mahon for £260,000.

Following on from the recent sale held here in February where the record was broken for selling the most valuable point-to-pointer of £480,000, MARIE BANRIGH realised a World record for a point to point mare when selling to John Hales and Ryan Mahon for £320,000 on the spot where a little more than 24 hours earlier a December Sale Graduate filly FAYONAGH had won the Grade 1 Weatherbys Champion Bumper on what has been an exceptional week all round for the sales and their graduates. We now turn our attention to the Cheltenham April Sale which takes place on 20 April 2017."
