American Mike tops Tattersalls Cheltenham April Sale

Lot 8 AMERICAN MIKE proved the star attraction of the Tattersalls Cheltenham April Sale when selling to Bective Stud and Gordon Elliott for £195,000. The four-year-old son of MAHLER ran out the impressive twenty length debut winner of his Maiden Point to Point for Sean Doyle at Cork on 10th April. Gordon Elliott stood with Eddie O'Leary and Aidan O'Ryan dug deep to see off determined underbidder Dan Astbury who was seated in the sales ring.

Lot 29 COOL SURVIVOR consigned by Cormac Doyle of Monbeg Stables attracted bids from a number of different parties but once again it was Gordon Elliott Racing that came out on top at £175,000 after a protracted battle again with underbidder Dan Astbury. The four-year-old WESTERNER gelding was the winner of division II of the Maiden point to point at Cork.

Denis Murphy's Ballyboy Stables offered Lot 25 COACHMAN who was the six length winner of division II of the five-year-old Geldings Maiden point to point at Tipperary on 11th April. The son of MARESCA SORRENTO will be going into training with Lambourn based Oliver Signy after he and agent Marcus Collie purchased the gelding for £140,000.

Lot 21 ASH TREE MEADOW consigned by Donnchadh Doyle of Monbeg Stables caught the imagination of a number of different parties but it was Aidan O'Ryan stood with Gordon Elliott who struck the winning bid of £135,000.

The fifth Lot to realise six figures was Milestone Stables' debut four-year-old Maiden point to point winner CHIANTI CLASSICO, who was knocked down to Aiden Murphy and Kim Bailey for £105,000.

The Tattersalls Cheltenham team now look forward to the Cheltenham May Sale which will be staged at Park Paddocks, Newmarket on 27th May.
