Black Type treble for Tattersalls Cheltenham Graduates

Yesterday's rescheduled Newbury card dubbed as 'Super Sunday' ceratainly lived up to expectations with some top class action and it was SECRET INVESTOR who came out on top in a thrilling renewal of the Grade 2 Denman Chase for Paul Nicholls. The son of KAYF TARA made all of the running under Bryony Frost and saw off his stable companion CLAN DES OBEAUX in a stirring finish to provide his trainer with yet another victory in the race. Owned by Hills of Ledbury Ltd he was purchased for £175,000 by Tom Malone from Donnchadh Doyle's Monbeg Stables at the 2016 Cheltenham May Sale. He was also purchased for €38,000 as a three-year-old by Monbeg Stables at the 2015 Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.

Over at Navan BEACON EDGE battled on gamely after the last to prevail close home in a thrilling finish to the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle. The DOYEN gelding has made up into a classy performer and a tilt at the stayers hurdle now looks an option for him. He was purchased for £88,000 by Noel Meade at the 2018 Cheltenham November Sale from Nicky Richards after an impressive bumper win.

At Market Rasen MINELLA DRAMA recorded a taking victory in the Listed Sidney Banks Novices' Hurdle for Donald McCain. Always travelling best in the hands of Brian Hughes the son of FLEMENSFIRTH could have been called the winner along from home and cleared away after the last to win readily. He now looks set to contest one of the Novice Hurdles at Aintree's Grand National Meeting in April. The gelding was purchased by his trainer for £60,000 from John Nallen at the 2020 Cheltenham February Sale.

The concluding contest on Sunday's card at Navan saw GINTO get off the mark under rules for Gordon Elliott and owners Noel and Valerie Moran. He powered clear of his rivals in the final furlong doing all his best work at the line. A €470,000 purchase at last year's Cheltenham November Sale he rates a very exciting long term prospect for connections.
