Grade 1 double for Cheltenham Sales Graduates

Fairyhouse played host to a stellar days racing on Sunday and it was two Tattersalls Cheltenham Sales graduates that stole the show.

Described by his trainer Gordon Elliott as “a horse of a lifetime” Envoi Allen took his unbeaten record to 11 when making short work of his three rivals in the Grade 1 Drinmore Novices Chase. The son of Muhtathir was foot perfect under Jack Kennedy the whole way round and sprinted clear of his rivals in effortless style when asked. He has to rate as the most exciting Novice Chaser ever to come out of Ireland. Sold by Colin Bowe’s Milestone Stables to Tom Malone and Cheveley Park Stud for £400,000 at the 2018 February Sale, his main aim at the Cheltenham Festival will be the Marsh Novices’ Chase.

Earlier on the card the exciting Ballyadam followed in the illustrious hoof prints of his stablemate Envoi Allen when winning the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle for the same connections. The son of the late Fame And Glory was ridden out hands and heels after the last to win in good style. Bookmakers made him ante post favourite for the Supreme Novices Hurdle at the Festival on the back of this performance and he will likely head to Leopardstown over Christmas now. He was sold by Wilson Dennison and Colin McKeever at the 2019 Cheltenham November Sale for £330,000.
