Tattersalls Cheltenham Festival Sale Catalogue Online

A total of 26 Lots have been catalogued for the Tattersalls Cheltenham Festival Sale, which is scheduled to take place this Thursday March 17th at 6.15 p.m. after racing in the Winner’s Enclosure. The sale includes 16 winning and placed four-year-old point-to-pointers and eight winning and placed five-year-old point-to-pointers. The catalogue and Lot race replays can be viewed online, with copies of the pre-sale veterinary certificates available from Wednesday.

Denis Murphy’s Ballyboy Stables is the most represented handler of the sale with three Lots, including the Borris House debut winning four-year-old PEAKY BOY (Lot 8). The son of 11-time Champion sire KAYF TARA quickened well to take the honours of the same race that has produced former Tattersalls Cheltenham Grade 1 winning graduate SPORTING JOHN, as well as AMARILLO SKY and ANDY DUFRESNE. He will be joined by four-year-old Maiden debut winners JET OF DREAMS (Lot 21) and GIVEHIMTHEHONOUR (Lot 16).

The hugely impressive debut four-year-old winner BETTER DAYS AHEAD (Lot 12) stamped his authority on a top class contest at Lisronagh, and the son of MILAN looks set to no doubt catch the eye of many for his handler Warren Ewing from Bernice Stables, who is recently better known for nurturing the point-to-point career of Supreme Novice favourite CONSTITUTION HILL.

BROUGHSHANE (Lot 23) had too much class for his rivals when winning the four-year-old Maiden at Kirkistown. The son of MAHLER and half-brother to Grade 3 placed chaser BOLD ENOUGH recorded an exceptional time for his handler Gerald Quinn of Caherty Stables.

KUDASHEVA (Lot 18) looks a high-class mare for renowned handler Pat Doyle’s Suirview Stables, when winning her four-year-old Mares Maiden at Ballycahane by 12 lengths. The daughter of the Derby winning POUR MOI, she is out of a sister to the Gold Cup winning DON COSSACK.

Cormac Doyle’s Monbeg Stables, the former handler of dual Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winner MONKFISH, presents IDALKO BIHOU (Lot 7). A son of BALKO looks to have all the makings of a top-class prospect, following his eyecatching victory in the four-year-old Maiden at Tinahely.

Donnchadh Doyle of Monbeg Stables has previously sold Grade 1 winning BRAVEMANSGAME and Grade 2 winning FAROUK D’ALENE at the Cheltenham Festival Sales, and returns to this year’s renewal with five-year-old Maiden winners GENTLE SLOPES (Lot 15) and STELLAR STORY (Lot 5).

Colin Bowe's Milestone Stables will offer HAVEANOTHERGOFLO (Lot 6) who was a most impressive debut winner of five-year-old Geldings Maiden point-to-point at Lisronagh. His handler has previously sold top class Cheltenham Sales grduates ENVOI ALLEN and FERNY HOLLOW.

Through the exploits of the likes of ENERGUMENE and DOES HE KNOW, British point-to-pointers have never been more prominent, and this year’s Cheltenham Festival Sale looks set to add to the roll of honour with Tom and Gina Andrew’s KAP D'ATTENTE (Lot 10). The daughter of exciting sire KAPGARDE made the perfect start to her career when running away with the four-year-old Mares Maiden point-to-point at Brocklesby Park. She will be joined by Fran Nimmo’s SALT ROCK (Lot 20), a 20-length winning son of SOLDIER OF FORTUNE who put in a fine jumping performance at Charlton Horethorne on his debut.

Auction horses will be stabled at the RDA Stables situated south of the North Gate entrance and available for inspection after the pre-sale veterinary inspection has concluded from 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday March 16th up until the sale.

Courtesy transport will be available for clients wishing to view the auction horses from the internal side of the racecourse. The collection point is situated between the North Gate Entrance and the Tattersalls Owners and Trainers Pavilion and will be well sign posted.

Tattersalls Live Internet Bidding will be available for those who are unable to attend the sale in person. Prospective purchasers are requested to register with Tattersalls at least 48 hours prior to the start of sale.

Matthew Prior, Head of Sales said;

“After a two-year absence we are delighted to return to the home of jumps racing for what is the most anticipated week of National Hunt racing this season. With record crowds back once again, we look forward to presenting the cream of the Irish and British point-to-points this Thursday evening in the Winner’s Enclosure after racing.”

“Tattersalls Cheltenham graduates accounted for nine individual winners at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival and no doubt this year’s Festival Sale looks set to add to this illustrious roll of honour.”
